Season Opening Edition – 13 October 2021
Welcome to the new Western Bay of Plenty Cricket season that kicks off this Saturday with the first two rounds of the Classic Builders Reserve and B Grade T20 title race (see draws below).
The big story at the start of the 2021-22 season, is that Classic Builders has come on board as the first Western Bay of Plenty Cricket major sponsor (See Media Release below).
The second big piece of news, is the new WBOPCA website to accompany the WBOPCA facebook page. The website https://wbopcricket.co.nz/ is the place to go to find out what’s happening in Western Bay Cricket. CriqHQ draws and results and playing conditions are a prime source of information, which is sure to attract heavy-duty attention and use during the season.

CLASSIC BUILDERS JOIN FORCES WITH WESTERN BAY OF PLENTY CRICKET
Western Bay of Plenty Cricket and Classic Builders have joined forces to advance the game of cricket in the Western Bay region, with the WBOPCA first major sponsorship agreement.
The Western Bay of Plenty Cricket Association was constituted in the spring of 2010, when the Te Puke/Mount Maunganui and Tauranga Cricket Association's, were joined by the local junior cricket bodies to form a new regional cricket organisation.
The partnership between the Western Bay of Plenty Cricket Association and Classic Builders brings together two organisations that share similar philosophies on the pursuit of excellence.
WBOPCA Vision is "To be seen as the leading, best organized and most successful grass roots sporting organisation within the Western Bay of Plenty region". Classic Builders Tauranga website simply says "Building Dreams - Creating Futures."
Today, the WBOPCA is in the top three of NZ Cricket minor association participation numbers in the country. Western Bay Cricket enters the 2021/22 season with a record 27 senior teams and over two thousand age-group players.
Western Bay of Plenty Cricket Chair Rana Collett said "This partnership with Classic Builders is very exciting. It is going to enable us to provide more opportunities across all the platforms we manage at Western Bay Cricket”.
