Sam Owen
Community Coach & Sunday League Coordinator

I have been involved in cricket since I was 12 years old, where the obsession really kicked in.  I began my coaching journey at the age of 17/18 before going through my qualifications at the age of 19 and I've never looked back over the past 14 years and running all coaching in my boyhood club Blackpool CC.  I also ran the district's age groups and festival (representative area) teams in the county.  I am extremely passionate about cricket and coaching.  Coaching and helping people in the game I love gives me great satisfaction.I passed all my ECB qualifications before doing an ECB Diploma in coaching 2017.  I'm currently doing a Coaching for Impact course through NZ Sport.
I enjoy the vast landscape that coaching offers, from the future superstars at grassroots level through to Bay and ND players in the pro ranks.  Being able to work with different players of all abilities presents different tasks with the game changing before our eyes.  Since being in Tauranga since late 2017, its been great to be involved with the local cricket community and contribute wherever I can, working with local club players, the junior and senior Western Bay association, the Bay mens side and the Coastlands age group teams.  It's been great fun and experiences, long may it continue.I hope to continue to grow the game further in an already enthusiastic and passionate area.
