Grade Philosophy
Division 5 and 6 are the foundation competitions for youth cricket in the Western Bay of Plenty.
They exist to provide all youth players with meaningful opportunities to contribute and be appropriately challenged in a sustainable club or school-based environment. The competition should support players with a wide range of abilities, motivations and ambitions, encouraging long-term involvement in the game.
Division 5 should be a positive learning environment where players are supported by their peers, coaches, parents, and other volunteers, who actively encourage the development of both hard and soft skills in an engaging and enjoyable way.
While competition and purpose are an important part of the experience, player development should remain at the heart of the grade, and all players should feel a sense of progress and achievement.
